Welcome to my Blog page!. Here I try and give you local information also up and coming local events! Autumn is here and its a great time to have a break! As long as you’re wrapped up warm, there’s nothing better than a lovely stroll along the beach! Alternatively saunter along the beach and then wander to the village pub to warm yourself up in front of the roaring fire! All availability is shown on my calendar.

So, you’ve booked Beachcombers for your holiday and now here’s a few suggestions of what you can do:-

Here are my recommendations to visit when staying at Beachcombers Apartment.

Beadnell

A fantastic beach with golden sand.  Whether you want to take part in beach activities, watersports, walking the coastline or just sitting watching the world go by you won’t be disappointed.  If you’re a keen bird watcher, the Arctic Terns nest on the beach between June and August. (Please keep dogs on a lead when you approach this are) . It’s a place the whole family can enjoy, even the family dog!  There is a local water sports centre where water sports tuition and equipment hire is available so you can take full advantage of the beautiful sea. Please respect the sea at all times!

The Craster Arms , Beadnell – Won Trip Advisor Travellers Choice Award 2022 , 2nd year!! And many other Awards!!

Located in the heart of Beadnell Village, this gorgeous, homely pub is a must to visit.  Serving fantastic pub food.  The large beer garden with its outside bar and plenty of outside space for eating in the warmer months.  During the summer various bands can entertain you during the evening! https://www.northcoastcollective.uk/thecrasterarms  or follow on Facebook for upcoming events The Craster Arms

The Craster is a lovely homely pub to visit whether you’ve having a walk and just need to stop for a quick drink , or stay for a meal and wander back to Beachcombers . Dogs very welcome!

Its best to book a table as it will be busy!

A New addition to Beadnell is The Landing! Just near to Beachcombers, A Seafood Restaurant/Bistro cafe with outdoor seating, sung blankets and heaters for those chilly nights! Fantastic new addition to Beadnell . Well worth a visit!! Follow on Facebook to check on closing times and menus

The Towers Hotel is also lovely to visit. Serving great meals and a relaxing environment to sit and have a coffee or wine.

Lazy Cow outdoor cafe – Delicious Cakes and coffee – open Thursday to Monday 10 – 3.30pm . Situated half way between Beadnell and Seahouses at the farm. check Facebook for Autumn opening times

The Courtyard Coffee Shop – in the centre of Beadnell village , opposite the church. great coffee, cakes and light lunches!

The Farne Islands

Just off the coast of Seahouses.  There are 28 Islands altogether but the main ones to visit are the Inner Farnes.  This is a great way to spend a few hours taking a boat trip from Seahouses harbour .  You will see – grey seals, puffins, guillemots and much more!. Spotting Dolphins is also becoming  a regular occurence.  A number of boats go to the Farne Islands. Booking can be made on line or on Seahouses Harbour at the Kiosks.

Bamburgh Castle

Holy Island

Holy Island is a small island off the coast which you can only get to by driving over a causeway when the tide is low.  It is well worth a visit but please ensure you adhere to the safe crossing times!

Alnwick Castle

There is so much to see from the elegant State Room, the Library containing approx. 15,000 books located in the Tower of the Castle and the Drawing Room which is magnificent! To see such beautiful history is a must!

Alnwick Gardens

This is a full day for all the family.  From Rose Gardens to Waterfalls, from the Adventure Golf Course to the Poison Garden, there’s so much to explore and at the end  of the day have a welcome  Coffee and Cake in the Café, alternatively pack a picnic!

The Salt Water Café, Beadnell

Situated just next to the Church in the village, this little Bistro Café is well worth a visit.  Dining throughout the day and evening.

Dunstanburgh Castle

The Castle Ruins can be seen for miles around. It is said to be haunted by a 16th century ghost.  If you like the spooky side of things visit at night! 

Craster

A lovely small village beyond  Newton, which can be reached along the coastal route from Beachcombers, Beadnell.  The Jolly Fisherman is a favourite, serving great food with views over the harbour and beyond.

Some of the best days are for Free! From Beachcombers you can just enjoy a day walking along the coastal path (AONB) passing High Newton by the Sea, Low Newton by the Sea and on towards Craster.  On the return walk take the path along the sand dune side for a change of scenery.  After a lovely day, relax back at Beachcombers in the evening sun.
